Should I pay privately for an ADHD assessment or wait?

Hope I’m posting in the right place but please let me know if there’s a better forum for this.
99% sure I have ADHD. I have been told my GP to go with Right to choose which is all fine, but their preferred provider has the longest wait time.
exploring diagnosis at this stage because I am struggling to cope in a new demanding role and with family life and all the traits I’ve managed with lifestyle and strategies have basically gone out the window and I feel if diagnosed I’d want to look at medication.
I don’t have a lot of savings as back from a period of mat leave and doing lots of work on house but I do have £2k I could use to go with GPs preferred provider but privately and get an answer one way or another in 2-3 weeks and possibly starting medication within 6-8.
I feel desperate and the irony isn’t lost on me that I’m hyperfixated on it but have total and utter decision paralysis hence posting here.
any help / advice / warnings to heed?

My gut is telling me pay privately because I’m actively losing money the way I’m operating at the moment - shit at planning food shops, buying help in instead of getting on with stuff, paying for weight loss meds and counselling because suspected adhd is impacting relationship with food, exercise and my marriage.
I know it’s not a golden goose but genuinely see how functional other people are on meds and feel envious!

I think you may need to do more research tbh. If you go privately, it's likely you'll need to pay for medication if you get a diagnosis. Meds prescribing has also been as issue with some right to choose providers too.

You need to check with Gp if the do shared care of medication following private/right to choose diagnoses. Many don't. If you want answers now, go private, but there may be a wait and 2-3 weeks sounds unlikely unless the assessment is really basic and brief.

The provider I am with is the preferred RTC provider for them (GP said it was easier for shared care agreement because they are very confident in the diagnoses that come from this provider)
He said obviously it’s still your right to choose but we have an existing history of prescribing with them.
however their wait is the longest out of all providers for RTC. Their website however said 2-3 weeks to get things going (not for diagnosis which I might have been unclear on on my original post)
