PSA: autistic women are being actively predated on online dating

tl;dw: men are "shopping" for vulnerable women, with "slightly autistic", "a touch of the 'tism" in their profiles as the red flags.

Ugh that is so terrible. I'm old now but when I look back at younger me, I was extremely vulnerable to predatory men. It doesn't surprise me at all that predators would go after autistic women and girls. Disgusting.

Thats why you have to maintain being in touch with your gut instincts - if it feels pressured, stressful etc. then something is off. And unfortunately believe that men do not have your best interests at heart until they prove that they do. Not get swept off your feet.

One of the huge problems with being autistic and female is that we constantly have our boundaries overridden and are forced into stressful situations whilst growing up. We learn to ignore those instincts because they are telling us to stop all the time in situations where the authority figures won't let us stop.

Add to that that social interactions are usually stressed, and how are we meant to know the difference between "abuser alarm" and "day ending in Y"?
