I got diagnosed last week privately. About to follow up….

it was an ok process. I have to have some blood tests now.

would welcome some positive stories about medicines! If they don’t suit you can you just stop?

I take methylphenidate and find it very helpful for anxiety, emotional regulation and clarity of thought. I’m very calm when I take it and my (terrible) driving is much better.

It works straight away and has worn off by the end of the day, so nothing like an SSRI where you have to wait for it to build up. As far as I know you can just stop if it doesn’t suit you. Only downside is once you start taking it you can really feel the lack of it on the days you don’t take it, well I can at least.

Thank you so much!

Similar to @Xenomoth I take methylphenidate and I feel so much calmer in general which is amazing. I didn't realise quite how stressed and wound up I was before meds. The meds also help me to focus a little better and I can see a task through, and I can listen and hold my attention for longer. I have less racing intrusive thoughts and feel less emotionally dysregulated.

I take the slow release ones which last around 12 hours, and you can just stop taking it with no adverse affect as far as I am aware.

I’ve just been prescribed Elvanse to start in the next week. I’m
nervous about side effects and how I’ll feel generally.
