ADHD / ASD - should I bother with diagnosis?

So I’m certain that I’m neurodiverse.

I’m late 40s and through menopause. I’ve been wondering for a while but not sure what to do.

Is there any point in getting a diagnosis at this stage?

Has anyone had a diagnosis later in life? Did it change anything for you?

Bumping this just in case anyone on here has any experience of getting an ADHD / ASD diagnosis, and how that’s worked out really.

What would it bring you?

Lots of resources are available if you need to work out how to make your life easier / better - you shouldn’t need a diagnose to choose to have headphones for example , but if you have an employer who is narrow minded then the diagnosis would be useful if they wouldn’t let you otherwise

many people find it helps them feel better about themselves - gives them a reason - external validation for being you

Thanks @midgetastic that’s a really kind and balanced response.

It’s most definitely the latter, the external validation. It explains a lot, I think.
