Hi, I’ve never heard mumsnet so im
unsure on whether I’m posting in the right place. My boy is about to turn 3 and I have some concerns. The health visitor has referred him to salts but it’s a long waiting list, she also hasn’t said much in regards to my concerns. I feel like my concerns are hard to explain unless you’re around him so I will try. Here are just a couple of things off the bat

he can sing songs

ask for a couple different snacks for example ‘want Pringles’ ‘ want toast’ ‘ want drink’ ect

knows his colours
can count to 20
knows his animals and the noise they make

can identify and say different objects and recognises people in photos and says their names

my concerns

he can be quite hyper

when asking him a question or talking to him it’s like he’s just not paying attention!

instead of coming up and saying mami can I have a drink? He’ll say want drink or he’ll just bring me his cup

he repeats things from tv

he does say some things in context but it’s never in conversation it’s more like ‘ put on boots’ ect

he never asks questions

never asks why

wont tell me if he needs a wee or poo or if he’s done one

has never come up to me and said ‘ Mami’ he can say it but he doesn’t address me if that makes sense?

he talks jibberish a lot

doesn’t really talk at nursery

doesnt really follow instructions although on the rare occasion he’ll follow a 1 step instruction

if I said do you want to go in your pram? ( he hates it) he’ll say no. If I said so you want the biggest ice cream in the whole world he’d probably say ‘ want ice cream’ rather than yes

when talking to him i feel like im talking to a brick wall in the nicest way possible, its like he’s just doesn’t get it? Getting his attention to ask him questions or talk to him is difficult.

sorry for the long post, I’m just feeling quite deflated with his 3rd birthday approaching as I have all these concerns 😩 has anyone experienced these traits in their child? Thanks guys x
