Hi there, I am a mum of two girls. One 10 years and one recently 8. I am concerned about my 8 year old and her destructive behaviour and carelessness.

Have recently moved to a brand new house that we worked and saved so hard for and she has bitten all of her blinds. Drawn in multiple walls all throughout the house - should this stage not have passed by now?

when asked why she does this she says she doesn’t know. But she is such a sensory seeker. Often found upside down or skating around the kitchen on her belly board. When I say she doesn’t sit still she really doesn’t.

The school say she is fine however I am having the buy multiple cardigans a week where she chews her sleeves, then her hair and the skin all around her nails.

She lacks any empathy and the ability to take ownership for her actions, although I am fully aware she is so young still, I am beginning to feel very concerned about her.

does this sound like anyone elses 8 year old?

Sounds like an undisciplined 8 year old to me

How is she in school? Sounds like definite traits of autism and struggling to process the change moving to a new home. My nephew has audhd with OCD and chews his sleeves & collars. He has compulsions to damage items when he knows it will get him in trouble.

Maybe speak to school and GP?
