Should I share??

Hello - My son has ADHD and ASD, diagnosed privately and GP don’t know yet. Should I share he diagnoses with the GP? What are the upsides and downsides to it? I have the option to share the ADHD and not the ASD, so at least they can provide the medicine. The reason I am asking is that I don’t trust the system and have been let down inúmeros times. My GP has denied sending my son to ASD assessment as he is a bright boy coping well at school despite been requested by NHS sleeping specialist and having so many ASD traits. So I am worried that once they know his diagnosis, they won’t help with his sleeping issues for example as sleeping issue is a common symptom. Should I share? Yes our no? Why? Please share your thoughts ❤️

Re. sharing the ADHD diagnosis, has your GP previously said they will do Shared Care? Did you go down Right to Choose, or did you pay for the private assessment?
It may affect cost of travel insurance, and may need to be declared for certain careers.

Re sharing the ASD diagnosis, I would guess it won't stop them helping with sleeping issues, but the support they offer could be different? I'd suggest maybe reading up on the NICE NHS guidelines on support and management for ASD, so you know in advance what the recommendations for treatments are:

It depends. Not all GP's agree to Shared Care for medication prescribing following a private ADHD assessment. What is DS 's age? Are school aware, were they involved in the process? Is sleep the main concern?

I did, for myself, It makes sense to have vital information about me recorded on my medical records.
