AuDHD diagnosis and CBT sessions

I’ve been diagnosed with ASD and ADHD. As part of the ongoing support, I’ve been signed up to weekly CBT sessions aligned to the diagnosis, which will be for an initial 6 weeks and possible more if needed after that. Has anyone else done this and also should I tell work about it so I can get paid time off? I’m unsure whether to tell them about the diagnosis or about the CBT sessions, but also I do want the time off to do it as I think it’ll be quite draining. Has anyone had experience of these CBT sessions and what they are like?

I don’t have any advice on the work aspect, sorry, but I’ve read somewhere, on here I’m pretty sure, that there’s a school of thought that CBT isn’t much cop for ASD. I’m not sure if that applies to ADHD too but when I’ve got some energy I plan
on doing some research on it as I was diagnosed last week and it’s on the suggestions of possible next steps.

I hope it all goes well for you and that it’s helpful.

I'm going to try it and see if I'm ok with it and if it's helpful. I haven't done well with other therapy in the past so it's possible I won't be able to engage with it, but might as well try it. I'm also worried as it's on zoom rather than in person and I know I will struggle with that as I don't know the person but will see how it goes and I just won't book the next session if I can't do it.
