Private ADHD prescription with NHS diagnosis

Hey

Wondering if anyone could help me or point me in the right direction, I was diagnosed with ADHD just less than a year ago, I waited for 18 months for the assessment after being wrongly diagnosed and medicated for BPD. After the diagnosis the physiatrist said he would write up the prescription trial of 1 of the drugs and would get in touch with me, after a few weeks of waiting I phoned and his secretary said that it wouldn’t be anytime soon and the waiting list was over a year for prescriptions, at the time the global shortage was pretty bad so I accepted.

However I just started my nursing degree I am majorly struggling after being out of education for a long time, I can’t concentrate in class, severely procrastinating to the point I’m making my self ill and becoming overwhelmed and taking out on my kids and partner, I called back up last week and the secretary said you’ve only been waiting 10 months there are people who have been on the medication waiting list longer than you so I can’t give you a time frame.

I’m wondering if anyone has had an NHS diagnosis but has went private just for the prescription, I don’t want to have to pay for a diagnosis as I have 1 but would be happy to prove this and pay for the medication until I can get it through the NHS.

It sounds like you still need to go through titration rather than ‘just’ needing a prescription?
