Christmas work do and chat

Next week is our work Christmas Do. I’ve never found our team leader the nicest of people, rather mean and bitchy most of the time. I’m trying to push myself to go as I like the place it’s booked at but worry about the small chat and fitting in (work from home). I feel like a newby when I’ve been in the job for nearly ten years.
How do i give off positive and confident vibes?

It's difficult when you aren't in the office regularly. How do you get on with the rest of the team?

I don’t get to talk to many of them, mainly to doing a slightly different job role to them. I want to get to know people, but find it hard.

I don’t think I ever went to a work Christmas do that I enjoyed and in the end I stopped attending. People seemed to have a good time without me. DS avoids his too. Must be genetic.

@Rocknrollstar Thanks for this, it did make me laugh as thinking back I think I’ve felt the very same, lol.
