Sadness over not receiving a card

My birthday was last week and I hardly get any cards as it is (extended family live away and conveniently forget my birthday yet expect to receive one for them). There’s a colleague that retired three years ago and we always sent Christmas and birthday cards. Last week…no birthday card.

Please can someone help me reframe this as it’s making me feel sad. For information this ex colleague is not away or sick.

I can appreciate that you feel sad OP but sometimes we do need to put things into perspective (I mean this in the kindest way 🌺). Maybe your ex colleague has got a lot on at the moment and it slipped their mind. Try to forget about it and focus on the here and now!
