I'm wondering if I could have some advice? My teenage daughter is autistic (waiting to be diagnosed) and she has decided that's she's going to sing in front of her whole secondary school.
I'm proud that she has the confident to ai g in front of the whole school, it something that I would definitely not be able to do.
However I'm scared for her, the children in her school are horrible bullies. Long story short, last year she was referred to the locals heath mental health team due to her having suicidal thoughts and self harming due to her feeling isolated and having no friends. She is feeling better and does have counselling at times in the school, and spends her break time in the 'haven' room away from the rest of the pupils.
She has decided today that she wants to sing in front of the whole school with her guitar, she can play the guitar very well, however she cannot sing. Obviously this isn't something that I want to tell her, and due to her autism she has no sense of self awareness. I really am proud of her, and wish to nourish her confident, however I'm scared that the bullies will knock her confidence into a dark place again.
Any advice?
To add, I have discussed changing schools with her, however this is the only school in the area due to us living quite rural ish. And she enjoys her classes, and is scared of the change. It's just the pupils that she can't vibe with
