‘Autistic & Proud’ t-shirt?

I saw one today and I found it somewhat irritating but I’m wondering if I’m being too harsh. To me it smacks of turning Autism into a fun & quirky identity, see also: Autism is my superpower. What about those with non-verbal Autism? Or those who need life-long care? Or those who pass as NT through sheer Herculean effort and then suffer the burnout afterwards? I feel like it’s minimising to those on the spectrum with serious challenges. I also acknowledge I may be getting overly grumpy because I haven’t had enough sleep! I suppose it beats ‘Autistic & Ashamed’. Also I suppose I better mention that I am autistic.

Honestly? I don't care. It's ok for people to be proud, it takes nothing away from others. I wouldn't wear a t shirt like that myself but I take no issue with others doing so.
