Any experience of bankruptcy?

For neurodiverse Mumsnetters....

I'm autistic and find anything relating to finances very very scary and hard to manage. Please be sensitive to that.

Does anyone have any experience of being made bankrupt? What was the insolvency service like to deal with and did they take your autism into account? I am also severely anxious and severely depressed.

Also, I'm a carer for two diagnosed autistic children if that makes any difference. Both with EHCPs and one in a special school. Mental energy used up getting them their support while I utterly fail at my own life.

Not personally but known others.

It's a relief. & much easier than dealing with debt.

I've not been made bankrupt but have worked in that area. You used your have to go to Court and see a Judge.

Now you fill the information in online and as long as you answer any requests for information you shouldn't need to see anyone.

Some things that you do need to take into consideration though are that it will remain on your Credit File for 6 years and if you have certain assets, like you own your own home then they may want some of the equity.

Have you spoken to a charity like CAP UK or Stepchange? Depending on your level of debt they might be able to offer other alternatives Flowers

Forgot to answer your question about ASD and anxiety. I've never worked for the Insolvency Service but do coke into contact with them and they've always been helpful in my experience of dealing with anyone with ASD or Anxiety or both.
