Choice of ADHD referral provider

Lemooon · 26/09/2024 09:58

We've been offered a choice of provider for an ADHD referral (for my DS, age 16) - we are in Norfolk.

The GP has recommended Evolve, RTN or ADHD 360.

Any recommendations/ advice? Does it make much difference who I choose, and do I have the option to choose a different provider?

Thinking I might phone them and go with whoever has the shortest waiting list.

Thanks

I would spend some time digging through the websites, looking into whoever will be doing the assessment. ADHD for one I know has a lot of 'pharmacy practitioners' conducting assessments. I'm not saying they are unqualified, becsue obviously they have done some sort of training to be able to conduct these assessments, but when I was going for a potential lifelong, life changing diagnosis, I didn't want 'anyone' doing it - I wanted it to be a highly qualified psychiatrist, not a chemist

I have used Problem Shared. They are used by many private health insurers and are accredited to be used by the NHS under the 'right to choose' rules. They also have a really easy to use website with template letters to ask your GP to refer. I think the list is a few months at the moment. I had a good experience recently with my own diagnosis.

Thank you for the advice - I will do some research. I wasn't expecting to be offered a choice!
