Am i neurodivergent??

Starting to wonder. Please be kind. I know alot of people seek diagnosis but I’m worried and confused and the more I search up info, the more I think I am!

I am actually 58 so old for just realising this. My main issue is confusion about dates and times. I have spent my whole life mixing them up. I even went on holiday a week early by mistake. It’s not even a meno or age thing as have always been like this.

Awful at reading info on graphs and spreadsheets. Makes no sense. I am ok ish at arithmetic though.

can’t read a map or listen to instructions.

Race through tasks like a demon. Usually at the expense of attention to detail. Make lots of mistakes. Hence me seeking advice.

just aspects of my personality or potential symptoms of something?

just personality i’d say

How is your co-ordination? Learning to drive? Telling left from right?
What about reading and spelling - did you have trouble learning?
How is your memory or working memory? (things like mental maths, remembering multi-step instructions etc)

Thanks for reply. Ok on left and right. Totally hopeless on multi step instructions. Learned to drive as a teen - no problem.

it’s the mixing up dates and times that’s the worst.i also struggle to listen to people.

Mental maths ok. Can’t do problem solving. Failed maths GCSE 3 times. Yet I have a masters in an arts subject.

Maybe this is just normal?

dyscalculia could account for some of that

Some of the traits you describe are traits of ADHD - time blindness, multistep instructions, attention to detail.

You could look up the ASRS and do that if you wanted to gain an idea.

Thanks. I’ve spent my life feeling disorganised and chaotic. I would like an explanation. Maybe I am just disorganised and rubbish at maths! Both my kids were given a diagnosis of Dyslexia in their teens and it got me reflecting on myself.
