If you are inattentive ADHD what's medication like?

I see so much writen about hyperactive ADHD and how being on meds makes thoughts clearer and your mind less messy.

I hardly see anything written about inattention ADHD and I'm curious as to what medication does for you.

My GP has referred me for ADHD assessment and I think I hit the criteria for inattentive.

Thank you

It depends because it varies from person to person, but the same can apply for inattentive (or combined) ADHD. I have combined type ADHD but strongly trend inattentive and I find meds really help me focus (but not for that long sadly!). Note not meds aren't a one-size fits all thing and some people can't find meds that work at all without unbearable side effects.

Issue is that there are major availability issues. Big problem at the moment is not being able to get your prescription filled. For some ADHD meds (it varies) that isn't a medical risk (I'm on Concerta and medically I can pick and choose when I take it), but I'm finding that now I've become used to being able to actually focus with the meds, it's making it harder to focus without (effectively my coping skills are deteriorating because I'm not needing to use them as much).

If I'd realized, I might not have started medication (probably still would have done - I'm impulsive!).
