Struggling at mainstream

My son is 7 and has been phased into mainstream after spending 2 years in the supported unit attached to the school. The past months have been horrible and I've had phone calls about his behaviour, meltdowns, screaming at staff and using disrespectful language, biting other children and refusing to come out from under the table.. do you think these are signs of struggles? He went from a class of 12 to a class of 27. They also moved him forward a year due to his extensive academic ability but my fear is that he is struggling with everything else

Ooh being moved forward a year doesn't sound good. I had that and started to misbehave. I was smart in some things and not others, and the ones I struggled with were a major source of frustration as the other kids were finding them easier as they were older. Also yes the sensory overload may be a lot. Would they allow some earplugs that still let voices in like Loops?
