Bipolar People please help!!! Quetiapine - weight gain / stable vs unstable

I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. I was hospitalised two years ago (two weeks) for my bipolar and have been on Quetapine ever since.

Not only do I feel sluggish most days my starting weight was 48kg and now two years later I weigh 85kg and eat very little.

I'm interested to see what people's thoughts were on Quetapine? Whether there was another mood stabiliser which didn't make me feel so lethargic and also didn't change the way my body processes sugar and fat.

Any other bipolar people on here? I'm really interested to see what medication works for you xx

I found Quietiapine too sedating but no weight gain so changed to aripiprazole, which is making me feel like a zombie. Still yet to find one that works. I have an appointment soon and will been asking to try something else. I think it’s a question of trial and error as everyone reacts differently. Sorry that’s not much help, hopefully someone will be along, I too will be interested to know.

Actually that is quite helpful as I thought the weight gain from Quetapine was standard. Did you stick to a diet while on it?

I don't eat a lot at all but I am so shocked with the amount of weight I have put on.

Have you switched meds often? I haven't experienced that yet so am a little nervous about asking for a change x

I was only on them for a few months so not much to go on, but I didn’t feel the need to eat extra.

I’ve only just been diagnosed (40) so I’m only at the beginning of my journey and trying to find a med that works. Only on second med.
