My 17yr old DS started an apprenticeship last year. Today I found a letter saying he’s been given a verbal warning for his behaviour and I am sick with worry. I’ve not told him I’ve seen the letter and I ask him regularly how he’s getting on, he’s very chilled, tells me everything is fine. But the letter highlights that it’s exactly the same issues he had in school, talking too much, not paying attention, lack of motivation. We’ve tried in the past to have him assessed for ADHD, one GP told us he’s just got an extra bit of “zing”. Another finally agreed to refer us but it was during Covid and nothing happened and I’m guilty of not chasing. I’m so concerned he will lose this job, I want to help him and have been looking at private assessments for ADHD but don’t know where to start. If this is ADHD, he ticks all the boxes for inattentive ADHD, he will continue to struggle in the work place and I just don’t want that for him. Grateful for any advice, anyone who has dealt with similar issues and if there is anything I can do short term to help him. Thank you
