psychiatric hospital problems - autism

I've recently been an inpatient in a psychiatric hospital. While I was there, they restrained me because I'd gone into shutdown so wasn't doing what they said. When I raised it with the doctor, they said in future people should stay with me rather than restrain me, unless it was (e.g.) raining(!)

I've done an autism passport now which will hopefully prevent this happening in future, but I'm still shaken up about it.

Has anyone had similar experiences?

I'm so sorry that happened to you. I noticed a documentary on the channel 4 website today about this issue - I haven't watched it though to know if it would have upsetting scenes, but might have some pointers towards resources?

I can't get the page to load now but I've found the title, it was called "Locked Away: Our Autism Scandal - Dispatches"

Watch Locked Away: Our Autism Scandal - Dispatches | Stream free on Channel 4

Autistic patients trapped in mental health units tell their stories, revealing a system of poor treatment, abuse and long stretches inside with their symptoms only getting worse

Oh well there you go it did the link by itself somehow.

(Sorry for the triple post)

Now I have got the link to work I don't know if it will be helpful to watch the programme; it looks more awareness raising than supportive.

Had to dig through all of their related support links but did eventually find the right one:
