DLA BACK Payment UC disabled child savings

Hi just posting this again just to see any body else’s replies etc as still not heard back from UC

Hi, in March - April this year I received 3 separate large sum payments backdated from UC and DLA for my disabled child, I was owned this money plus back dated carers element. My claim for DLA took a long time and a few things with UC where messed up, which means i was missing out on money I was owed, anyway this all got sorted and I was back paid a payment of £9000 from UC and a psyment of around 2000 from UC also and then DLA was around 2000 backdated. I already had 3 thousand in savings which is allowed, however the backdated Payments by UC have taken me Well over the savings amount allowed? And the amount to have an ongoing claim, Nobody ever gave me any information about if this is classed as savings or when it should
be spent etc. I was originally saving it as wanted to move private rented house to a bungalow rented if one came up and buy my sons new room padding sleep safe bed etc that all cost thousands plus other adapt mentos, also first months rent deposit etc on a rented properly all add up. I also need a new sofa tv fridge etc, again, all add up, I haven’t spent any of this money since I got it in March / April, as I said been wanting to move first but no suitable rented properties have come up, However all this news about UC and banks looking into your spending and your savings etc and stopping benefits has worried me. Is the backdated money I got classed as savings even tho they owed me it ? As I said I already had some savings well under the allowed amount, but their backdated amount had taken me into no longer can claim amounts, I’ve left 2 journal message but no reply, I’m worried? I wish I just spent it when got it as I need a new sofa, new tv etc cos son breaks them all , now am worried if I buy something new that’s expensive I.e sofa, it will flag up I’m spending large amounts of money?? Can anyone rest my mind please I have adhd and I can’t sleep for worrying. I only have the savings as it was given to me by the UC themselves , but now am worried they will stop my claim of bank will flag me for spending it ??!
please help!!thank you . I have 2 children and I’m my son’s full time carer just to add.

p.s I did a precious thread just looking for further answers and experiences, a few people said it’s disregarded for 12 months as saving, so am I ok to spend this and what i need now? Even if it’s large amounts? As 12 months is up in March which isn’t that long away! Can I withdraw any to use? or will this flag with the bank? Am very confused, another lady said irs completely disregarded with no time limit. But can’t find anything online or anyone else saying this? Does anyone else know.
dows anyone else have any further info on the latest news about UC investigations and banks.

Thanks for all your replies

Wrong topic: this is for neurodivergent adults. Try SEND children or Money matters.

I am neurodivergent

You're posting about your child's DLA claim, yes? The neurodivergent parent of a neurotypical and non-disabled child would have no experience with DLA claims.

No I’m asking about UC not my child’s DLA. And Well you don’t know that ! Just because you don’t doesn’t mean others don’t. I’ve already deleted the post and re put into a different category. Was a simple error, there are plenty neurodiverse adults with neurodiverse kids on DLA! They also may no answers in regards to adult pip and UC. I’m not asking about my child’s DLA anyway I’m asking about uc. Thanks for your input !!

Adults are being moved onto PIP. That's why I thought you were talking principally about your child's claim.

If your problem relates to back payment of UC affecting your future entitlement, I suggest that you approach Citizens' Advice, Turn2Us, or any of the charities that provide expert advice about benefits. You should not rely on what posters on MN say because entitlement rules are very complex.

As I stated I’ve already contacted Uc and waiting for a reply I’m entitled to ask opinions ! Stop replying to me , ridiculous

I’m entitled to ask opinions

I didn't say you weren't. I tried to direct you to a more useful part of Mumsnet where your questions might actually get an answer. The zero answers you've had from anyone other than me would rather prove my point that this is the wrong board.

I was trying to be helpful by directing you to a more suitable board and you spit in my face. That says far more about you than about me.

I’ve had aero answers cos I’ve removed the post the minute you said it was in the wrong category ’ for some reasons it’s allowing YOU to still comment, but it’s not Visible to anyone else. Hence “ no replies!” I moved it after your first comment, I also stated other neurodivergent people OR mums may have info on this due to some also being on uc which is what this is about. You should re consider your tone, not “helpful” at all, judgy, passive aggressive and just because YOU don’t relate your putting everyone in the same category , I move the add and said thanks, you still continued to go on dictating what I should and shouldn’t do, “ contact uc don’t reply on people on here” I’ve stated I contacted UC and this forum is to ask peoples opinions! Thats what am doing! no one else can see this post …… so stop commenting on it! I said in the first message thank you for letting me know I’ll move it. Definitely says more about you, too much time on your hands. bore off

We are taking this post down as it was not in the spirit of the spirit.

I think you've misinterpreted the replies.

This section of the forum isn't about getting advice on child DLA, benefit backdates, the associated potential impact etc and the replies from @VitoCorleoneOfMNMafia were helpful in attempting to signpost you to a more relevant section of the forum.

At the risk of backlash from you, it is actually you who's 'getting your knickers in a twist' and it may be helpful if you read the previous replies in an objective way and hopefully this will enable you to see that the signposting was not passive aggressive, as you claim.
