Assistance dog

Has anyone owner trained an assistance dog for neurodivergent issues?

I am just starting my dog training to be an assistance dog. (I think I’ve worded that sentence badly as it seems like I am the dog in training :S) I’m training my dog.

starting with a dog trainer next week but I hadn’t actually managed to tell her that I want to train him to be an assistance dog anxiety FTW (that does mean for the win just in case it means something different on here), Just that I want to improve on his training. He’s doesn’t have much training, but he is pretty well behaved for a dog.

he is 4, so a bit older. I wanted to do it sooner but it got put off for various health reasons and not finding much information. Owner trained ADs seem to be a much bigger thing than 2-3 years ago.

thank you for any advice you can give

What do you want to train him to do? If he is really a well trained pet them he is more of an emotional support animal rather than an assistance dog.

ESAs are not a thing here.

An assistance dog is an assistance dog as long as they mitigate your disability in some way.

So, I’m gonna train mine to do pressure therapy (he’s only small so won’t be too heavy as I hate too heavy), comfort when crying, make space in a crowd, and something else that I’ve forgotten at the moment
