Social anxiety when typing?

I didn’t know which board to put this on but for perspective I’ve recently been diagnosed with autism and also have ADHD (and a controversial BPD diagnosis). To put it bluntly, I have horrid social anxiety. The most frustrating thing is even online or on text my words come out wrong. I feel like I’m constantly being judged. Everything I say just feels out of place and weird, even when I comment on a Facebook post or on mumsnet. I don’t know what I’m asking, I guess I just want to know if anyone else has this issue?

Yep, me too! Any kind of communication is just excruciating. I read and reread everything to make sure it’s just right. Including this post. I think it comes from not having the ‘correct’ viewpoint to put forward.

That’s interesting! I do the same on mumsnet, I always worry that my post is somehow irrelevant to the situation and the people reading it just think I’m weird. Even though I’m a married woman with a professional career and two kids, I have this fear that I come across as childish (I think because of my shyness and lack of social skills) I just overthink everything. I’m the same with this post! I guess it’s the same thing about the ‘correct viewpoint’ - I admit I do get irrationally anxious when someone quotes my post and picks holes in what I say. I posted recently talking about the guidelines I have to follow at work in my job that my dh also has to follow and even though I’m solid in my career and hopefully knowledgeable, someone in a different field came to pick holes which stressed me out to no end! Sorry for the essay, it’s just nice to know I’m not the only one feeling like this!

Yep, definitely not the only one - I’m also in a professional role with kids and am constantly overwhelmed by all kinds of communication, it took me all day on Sunday to write and send birthday invites for my almost 5 year old! You’re braver than me tho - could never post on the main mumsnet boards..

@LeotardsandDaisies honestly I regret posting on it often, one minor spelling error and you are assumed stupid (English is my third language) and get roasted alive!!
