ADHD time management app

Do any of them work? I have ADHD and I would like to manage my time more effectively and I keep seeing these apps that promise the world.

I have so much to do in a day and any way that can help me be more effective in time management that I can fit everything in without forgetting anything would be great.

i think “motion” is one of the apps Meta keeps recommending

I just use google calendar and google docs. It's not that effective, but it's simple and it syncs everywhere.

I think it's best to find one that is specifically for people with ADHD. Lots of these time management and productivity apps are built for NT ppl and just make us feel worse when they don't work.

I don't use any at the moment. I set alarms on my phone and put everything in a calendar with notifications, and have a clock on the wall so I can easily see the time without having to pick up my phone and get distracted by it.

Also am looking to get a watch next time I'm town for this reason, so I can do stuff like read books and not need to pick up my phone unless it's beeping to tell me I've forgotten to do something.

I know the youtuber How to ADHD is sponsored by various apps like this including Sunsama. Not tried it myself but I think there's a free trial.

I'd disagree honestly - a lot of the apps that claim to be optimised or designed for ADHD are just jumping on the huge ADHD social media bandwagon. I've tried a few of them, and a lot aren't well thought out or designed for ADHD at all. The problem is that us ADHDers tend to want everything all at once. We need it to be simple to use, but then we get frustrated if we can't add all the complicated granular details, but then the barrier to using it is too high, but if it's too simple and clean then it's boring. So you add fun things like games and graphics, and then it becomes overwhelming.

IMO, start with the tools you already have access to and see how it goes. If it doesn't work, try to help yourself figure out what was missing and look for a tool that will fix that specific problem.

What I want is someone to scan my brain and then write me the perfect bullet journal, with lovely lettering, check boxes and everything I need in the right order, is that too much to ask?

Should I just buy a new notebook (to add to the pile 😁)

I don't get on with bullet journalling either :D

I was thinking about using ChatGPT and talking to DH about this today. Some people on the reddit ADHD sub were talking about how they use it:

No I’ve never got on with bullet journaling but I love watching set up videos and then optimistically buying new pens 🤣

That’s been deleted by mods :/

Oh FGS really? They delete everything on that site.

It was basically saying ask it to break down tasks for you into smaller steps, ask it to help you plan your day (I have been doing this and it's quite good) or make a to-do list etc. Also write a script for you if you have to make a telephone call, write emails if you hate writing email etc.

Ohhhhhh! Sounds really good!

I find myself completely forgetting what I was doing mid task - not ‘what did I come into this room for?’, but completely erasing it from awareness - and just starting something else, then remembering what I was doing initially, forgetting the second, until I start a third thing, and so on… maybe having laid out plans and broken down tasks would help
