How do you feel pain?

I've a tooth abscess which is bloody agony. Does pain completely mess with anyone else? I'm highly anxious, brain like scrambled egg and tearful. I've had to take the day off work as I just cannot function at all, and need to completely shut down. Luckily, I have a really understanding line manager who's told me to do what I need to do to feel better. Dentist this afternoon.

I hope you get that sorted asap @Mabelface as a tooth abscess can be excruciating!

I'm a weird one with pain. Sometimes I don't feel anything, resulting in, for example, a huge blister (and scarring) from a scald that I didn't feel until the damage was done, to extreme pain from a light bump.

I have no idea what that's all about. Bad pain one day, no feeling the next 🤔

A doctor at a hospital told me I had a very high pain threshold, but I've had chronic pain for 18 years plus a myriad of other conditions. I'm very aware of things in my body. I can sense the slightest thing.

You have my greatest sympathy. Jaw tooth head face pain is one of the worst I've ever experienced. The last bad batch I remember having to go outside at 3am to pace up and down. Just had no idea what to Do. I remember rubbing whiskey on it with my finger. Can't tell you if that's a good idea but it did numb a little.

Anti inflammatories, try hot or cold as different things work for different people. I hope you get relief really soon 💕💕

Thank you both. I have antibiotics for a nasty gum infection and the dentist numbed the gum for me yesterday so I could eat! Painkillers are now working. The infection did make me feel unwell too so I've had a couple of days off work.
