Does anyone bite their tongue?

My tongue is quite sore on both edges as I've been unintentionally biting it. I don't notice when I'm do it. I guess it's stress related? Or maybe a stim?

Anyone do this? Any tips on how to stop it?

Thanks

I don't, im much more of a hsndstimmer but (also autistic) dh does it all the time, I notice he does it the most when he's stressed. Things he's tried to do to break it but I wouldn't say is an overwhelming success (longterm) but helped a little at the time is chewing gum, chewing toys those ones on a necklace? I forget the name. A very very thin gumshield the dentist made, it's normally for people sleeping at night but his was for daytime use but it felt weird to him so didn't last long.

Thanks for the suggestions that's great!

I still don't really understand the difference between a stim and something that I do due to stress.

I personally would describe a a stim as something that makes you happy. I rub my feet together in bed, or on the sofa and it's relaxing.

It is unfortunately also something to make you "happier" when you are not coping. I pick at my fingers, been working REALLY hard on not doing it.

I'd been thinking for a bit how to answer the whole good stim/bad stim thing, even to answer my own pondering around that! And that's kind of answered it perfectly, it can be a im happy situation or I wish I was happy/get happy situ.

@Topolle I'm really glad that you found that a useful explanation, it is a difficult thing, I have no idea how I managed to verbalise it successfully!!
