Private ADHD assessment?

premicrois · 14/03/2023 11:31

Looking for recommendations or 'don't go there' if anyone can help?

Im autistic and have wondered for a while if I also have ADHD. It came up very strongly in a chance conversation with an NHS consultant about something completely unrelated the other week.

So, now I'm just trying to find the right person/company to approach

Hey @premicrois, so I’ve only been diagnosed with ADHD for 12 weeks, despite having symptoms since I was about 8. But I’ve given lots of advice to friends about this. The first step anywhere is going to your GP and asking to be referred. I say this because when I started this process last September the private waiting list had the same wait time as NHS, so I used “right to choose” to be put through to where I wanted to go.

This is a good link about right to choose:
adhduk.co.uk/diagnosis-pathways/

But my friend has a having her diagnosis this week with this company: www.berkeleypsychiatrists.co.uk/doctors/drcatherinedurkin

She said they’ve been really good.

Any questions just say!

Should have mentioned, my friend has an agreement with her GP that she will get her medication through NHS but has to get diagnosed privately. But it’s pot luck tbh. Where I live my GP said if you go private you have to pay the monthly prescription fee.

adhd360.com worked for me and at least one other friend. I only waited about a month. They deliver meds via online chemist too. I'm only into month two but happy so far
