Leaning social skills from books

Just wondering whether anyone else was like this as a kid. I was always drawn to the rebellious characters in the books I read and used to try and emulate them. Learning how to behave socially with Jessica Wakefield - with hindsight I feel that Elizabeth may have served me better! I also used to collect phrases and character traits that I liked and tried to apply them to myself. I wish I'd just had the confidence to be myself.

Yes - very much so! As a 90s kid in the press the question was always "what would Madonna do?"
I was attracted to the rebels in the bike I read - pippi longstocking, Ramona Quimby and as I got older the rebellious girls in neighbors/ home snd away

the sweet valley high books - loved those!!
