Neurodiverse Mumsnetters

One of those sensory days

Do you ever have days like this?

Attempting to do the school run this morning and my sons trouser seam was irritating him and so were his gloves, also, my leggings were digging in and my sock was twisted and one shoe felt too tight.

We walked half way to school and then thought 'nope' and went home to get changed 😂

We were late for school but luckily they understand the issues.

Every evening at the moment.

Our neighbour seems to think its fecking festive to play christmas music in the street from 4pm to 10pm and the base is rattling around my head every bloody night, like being by a party every night.

About to flip.

Omg, I would be in a right mess if I had to listen to that constantly.
Are they one of those with huge decorations outside?

They are great to be fair. My son is still on the pathway for diagnosis but it's very obvious.
Yesterday the school had a panto on for the children to watch and he wore his ear defenders and sat next to the teacher in case he needed to leave. Today his teacher has asked me to go in and chat to her about how they can make the Christmas period in school autism friendly for him because he will freak out at the noise and changes.

Yup they sure have a huge amount of decorations and lights, the noise is driving me crazy. Tonight I am going to try noise-cancelling headphones so I can read my book and try and relax.

It sounds like your school is really trying hard to be helpful, thats so nice to read about.

Oh, this happens to me often Sad. It seems that one thing is 'wrong' and everything else follows it.

Yep. I’m a TA and so many children have colds at the moment and the coughing is driving me mad! Had to leave the classroom one day earlier this week because the sound was too much. Then one of the doors kept beeping too. The interactive whiteboard does this constant buzzing hum if the sound is up but nothing’s playing and I’m constantly going over and muting it.

Coughing is dreadful isn't it
My 2 kids have coughs at the moment and we all sleep in the same room. I'm having to wear headphones in bed.
