I guess it depends what she and you need.

Do you have the right support around you or are you looking for groups where you can talk to other parents?

Is there an EHCP in place with the school so her needs are documented and strategies in place?

Does her profile mean you need to apply for DLA?

Knowing if there's anything specific you need will help. Oh, and you might begin to receive invitations to an annual health check at the GP for DD, our surgery have just started doing this and since they aren't obviously proactive I'm assuming it's a national thing. Not sure how I feel about that.

I have replied on your other thread OP, but just wanted to say the annual health check is a national service for those on the learning disability register over 14. Some are trying to get this widened to include those with autism without a learning disability.

That's interesting to know @Thatsnotmycar DC is 7yo and is autistic without a learning disability. I wonder why they're included?

Thatsnotmycar · 29/11/2022 20:13

@Percie perhaps the surgery are on the ball with the campaign to widen the health checks? This is the NHS information about the health checks for those with learning disabilities. And here is some information from Newcastle University on the campaign and project to widen it to all with ASD. It makes sense given the health inequalities for all with ASD.

@Thatsnotmycar thank you for the links - perhaps they are on the ball. They definitely said ASD rather than learning disability. I'll ask when we go.

You may find the Sen chat board helpful as well.

Well done for getting through the process.
