Hello ND mumsnetters (I am one of you, I post on this board quite a bit but have name changed so that this isn't linked to my other posts).

There's been a bit of a situation brewing in Oxfordshire for a while, primarily affecting ND children (but also many with other SENDs) Parents have had enough, and I wanted to share it with you all in case any of you are having similar difficulties and want to chip in. It's definitely not just an Oxfordshire problem, but I saw this on my local Facebook page. It's being shared widely on SM. There has also been a highly damning report published by a voluntary organisation in Oxon that this linked to this that may be of interest. If anyone would like to read I can try to find the link.

The parents (I wasn't there unfortunately) protested on Tuesday at Oxford County Hall. Three of them addressed the full Council in three minute segments to set out exactly what the issues are. Many of the parents are ND themselves, and fighting a losing battle for their children.

Unfortunately after the lunch break, some of the Councillors came back rather 'refreshed' and behaved appallingly - referring to the afternoon as 'more entertaining' than the mornings session had been despite the devastating stories the parents had taken the time to share with them.

If anyone would like to get involved/is having similar issues in the locality, then the action group is called 'OCC SEND Parent Action' on Facebook.

I've seen this in the Oxford Mail, absolute disgrace. I've just 'liked' the fb page so will have a look through as we are just starting on the journey having just applied for an EHCP for our teenage daughter. The school said they'd apply but it was almost a pointless exercise as they have not had a single one accepted by OCC....

It is appalling. I'm not actually in Oxfordshire but we have exactly the same issues in my local area. I was looking into this and it seems that there are pockets of these parents cropping up all over the country, all saying the same thing.
