Fucking Fireworks!

I have Autism, My DD has Autism. The fireworks tonight are utterly horrendous. The NOISE!! Why? Just why do people want to do this? They actually enjoy it? Yes, they are pretty. But you can get silent ones. Why do people enjoy the Bang Bang, Pop, Pop, Pop, Whoooosssh!? It is never ending.

I live in a village where the bloke opposite me spends £500 every year on the noisiest fucking fireworks known to man. Seriously, he may as well be burning £50 notes to my mind.

My poor Ragdoll cat is also terrified. We are all hiding under the duvet, but my DD reckons it's worse than NYE.

Utter Sensory Hell. I pity anyone who has PTSD triggered by serving or being involved with / in war zones.

Some just want to enjoy, it’s not often, be kind

I'm not a fan of fireworks. I think fireworks in your back garden are generally shit anyway and pointless so I agree with you op.

I can't help but think about the wild animals, not knowing what is going on. I wish they would just stick to public displays at bonfire and new year and bad private fireworks so we can plan around them.

Tired2tired · 06/11/2022 07:21

How has op not been kind? Alao how about bekind to her.

Fireworks are the fucking worst, where I live now there's never any (rural) but when I lived in a town it would break me and I'd have a meltdown everytime they suddenly went off, they shouldn't be sold to the public just at public events where there's a pu licised start and finish time, even better the drone performances for the public stuff.

ODFOD 🙄

I agree OP, fireworks are horrendous. I don't understand the attraction at all. I had hoped that with the cost of living crisis people wouldn't have money to burn, but that hasn't been the case.

IMHO, they shouldn't be sold to the general public.

Asher33 · 06/11/2022 11:49

I agree. It wouldn't be so bad if it was one night. I've heard them 3-4 nights in the last week or so. (I do understand it's / was Diwali recently)

There's an organised display where I live in August. At least with that I know the dates and can go away.

West Yorkshire has them ALL. THE. TIME. Incendiary devices which trigger bad memories of growing up in Northern Ireland during the Troubles. Bang bang bang all the bloody time, until well after midnight last night.

Apologies to any WY people on this board, but many really are the most selfish arses I've ever met with their constant need for noise - parties, screaming children, barking dogs and fireworks. Rude and aggressive if challenged, and out comes the "othering".

My mental health has fallen off a cliff with all this over the last few weeks, and my CPTSD is in full flow. My autistic OH deemed things "not that bad" and said "if you think this is bad, try [insert nearby crappy WY town]". My point is I don't want to try ANY of them, and this shouldn't be a thing at all! Public and silent displays only, but even then what value do they add with their impact on the environment?

Yes, I grew up in NI during the darkest days but right now I'd rather be back there than here.
