Song won't stop playing in my head

Does anyone else get a section of a song stuck in their head and it just won't stop 'playing' in a loop?

I'm finding this really challenging at the moment as it gets worse when I'm anxious and I find it really annoying. I can't, however, 'switch the song of' or change the song ...

I've tried playing the song aloud to see if that fulfills a need. It doesn't.

Any suggestions would be most welcome 😊

Yes! This has happened to me for decades. I particularly hate it when it's a song that I dislike.

Right now, I have Genesis, Behind the Lines playing. It's been with me for nearly a week and it's driving me mad. I even wake up with it playing. There's no escape other than to stay busy and if you can stand it, have background noise.

The songs can be so random and often songs that I hate which can be quite distressing and very frustrating.

As well as being autistic, I have lost most of my hearing and have tinnitus. When I told my ENT consultant and audiologist of songs playing, they mentioned Musical Ear Syndrome - www.healthline.com/health/musical-ear-syndrome

It's always a really annoying song ...

Good idea with the background noise. It's always worse in the early mornings when I can't play music etc as my husband and daughter are light sleeps.

I'm attributing it to my autism but who knows.

Oh yes definitely..recently went to a series of shows where two different albums were played every night. It was amazing but for days after I had a constantly changing medley of songs in my head, changing every few seconds almost, it was kind of unbearable.

Normally have one or two constantly running though.
