A Safe Space to discuss the disablist issue

Recognised a couple of names on the thread in Site Stuff about the issue of MN being lax in deleting Disablist posts / threads.

What concerned me more, however was the fact that I didn't see a lot of my Neurodiverse MN allies on there. That is very telling.

I know we escape here. And I'm so grateful that this board was created for us. But should I feel grateful just to be included and not dismissed?

There were a few posts deleted on the thread and a couple of names will stay in my mind. (Though some will likely name change)

It is so sad that people feel the need to dismiss our lived experiences.

I also want to add that I've discussed the ever changing language regarding Neurodiverse people. I totally understand why any of us would prefer to be known as ASD / Asperger's etc. I was late in my Autism diagnosis (51) but I'm trying to keep up with the current language as my DD(10) is currently mid diagnosis.

We all hold our original diagnosis dear. And for good reason.

Sending solidarity to all as we continue to navigate our lives daily with the obstacles that come our way.

I meant @deliverooyoutoo not OP. But like OP, I am affected by what went down. More than most outside this group, I suspect, due to the nature of my neurotype.

You didn't screw up, OP. When I realised the thread had been deleted it finally pushed me to do something I had been making excuses to myself not to do: email MN about the Equality Act and remind them of their duty to uphold it.

I don't expect much of a ripple caused by one little old email, but it just upset me so much to see something descend into something so cruel that it had to be shut down. Protecting the more vulnerable members of society is a duty we should all be complicit in, and it's not happening here.

Well done, crumpets. I will do the same and add my voice. They deleted one of the posts questioning me before I was able to answer it. I didn't even report. Although someone else may have. A second post was then removed. I had a conversation with them (MN) and they said they were keeping a close eye. It seemed a bit hit and miss, but they confirmed that the posts against me constituted a personal attack. That was their words, not mine.

I really think we deserve some consistency at the least.

Sending solidarity to all who have bern affected.

Thank you everyone. I've been out for the afternoon/evening and I'm so heartened to see your posts.

I do feel just weary of it. I don't understand why we can't just be believed. But it is what it is. I don't know that I'd do the same again - it has really shaken me.
