How much for a private diagnosis?

Hello ND Mumsnetters,

I have another thread running atm but wanted to ask a question re diagnosis. I've been rejected for my referral via the NHS route and have seen many adults on here saying they had to go private.

How much did it cost for yours? And did they do tests to rule out other things?

I paid £1500 for an assessment - this was for any neurodivergence - I was diagnosed with autism.

Bear in mind that any reputable service will emphasise that it is an assessment - i.e. they cannot guarantee to diagnose you with a specific condition.

I researched and prices ranged from £1 - £2k but I went with a service that offered a type of assessment I could cope with and that is also used by the NHS.

Definitely 'shop around' while you are saving up. I recommend phoning prospective providers before committing to a choice to gauge level of helpfulness and so on. Websites will detail the type of assessments and appointment formats. Bear in mind there might be a waiting list - I had around a 3 month wait

I paid £750 and sought out an ADHD specific assessment. After reading many accounts of such long NHS wait times and then months on top of that for their medication titration period to start I'm super glad I went private now

I paid £2000 for my autism assessment, the face to face component was done in my home.

@adhdforme do you mind sharing who you used for your assessment? I'm looking into it now and struggling to find any under £1,500
