Socks for winter

AlternativelyWired · 31/08/2022 18:12

My feet get claustrophobic in socks but also get very cold and I walk miles each day. Can anybody please recommend any socks to me please that won't have me ripping them off at the earliest opportunity?

Try bamboo ìf you haven't already. Bamboo socks feel quite smooth and soft, and seem to be warm without being too hot on a mild day.

I hate socks that grip my ankle and that have a hideous bulky toe seam. I have discarded so many socks due to discomfort (sometimes rage inducing!!)

My favourite socks are these:

They are expensive, but they wash well and last for ages and sometimes Amazon have offers on Falke. I also wear Falke tights in winter. They are the only tights I can tolerate.

I've cut the elasticated cuffs off a few times. I was initially worried they would fray but they tend to just roll up a little.

My dad gets swollen ankles and gets special ones from M&S that don't dig in. I have to use ones with most percent cotton I can find and you could always wear them inside out like my son does to avoid the toe stitching?

My DS isn't autistic but has some sensory issues. He wears only John Lewis wool blend grey school socks everyday year round. He doesn't find these restrictive, they go up to an adults 8-11.

I was thinking of this thread today as I've been wearing my supposedly thermal socks and wanted to rip them off my feet. I need to find slippers too but that's a difficult task.

Sometimes when I cannot cope with normal socks, I wear bed socks they are much softer

I got some bamboo trainer socks from the sock shop. I don't like them but they are better then ordinary socks though I am still wearing my open toe sandals but I'm hoping they will help me get some proper shoes on my feet this winter.
