Cheapest place to buy Elvanse?

I've literally just got off my diagnostic appointment call. I've been diagnosed (FINALLY! 😭) with attentive ADHD.

I've been prescribed Elvanse and he's told me to shop around for the cheapest price. I've never had to buy any medication before apart from the standard NHS dispensing fee kind. Can anyone tell me where the cheapest pharmacy is to buy Elvanse? Tesco, Asda, Boots, Morrisons?

Also can anyone share their experiences with Elvanse? I've been told to take it half an hour before breakfast but I practice intermittent fasting and don't usually eat until 1 because I'm not hungry. I just have coffee in the morning. Is it really necessary to eat with it or can I get away with not eating initial lunch if I were to take it at 8am?

When I took Elvanse (and other ADHD meds) I didn't eat first. I can't eat too early in the morning so I just took the tablet when I woke up and had breakfast at the usual time, around 10am.

Why can't you get Elvanse on an NHS prescription? Does buying meds come along with having a private ADHD assessment (assuming you had a private assessment)? If so, does that mean the diagnosis is not recognised by the NHS? Could your assessor write to your GP to request medication via the NHS?

Sorry, so many questions!!!

I had my ADHD assessment via the NHS. The clinic then prescribed me meds on an NHS prescription. One of those drugs was Elvanse. I didn't 'get on' with any ADHD meds. I realise that I'm in a minority as stimulant medication works for a lot of people with ADHD.

I've linked a few Elvanse threads that may be of interest:

Hi, not sure if you got sorted with Elvanse, but this was my experience with my son. He was initially diagnosed private. The private company gave an initial private prescription which the pharmacy processed. Think we only paid £22 for it. The Company wrote to our GP asking them to take over prescription and they agreed to complete prescription on a shared care basis (meaning NHS prescription charge rather that paying for a private script and a private medication fee).
My son has been amazing on Elvanse. He is now on 60mg and his attention is ‘normal’ he actually cried the first day he took his meds and said to me that his head was clear and no ‘cramped and heavy’ feeling he asked me if this ‘is this what ‘normal’ people feel like?’.
