Not sure what to do

First of all I apologise if in the wrong place or use words that might offend. I am looking for help on what to do and I have zero knowledge.

There is a young girl (possibly aged 9) nearby who screams a lot. Its one long very high pitched scream then silent. She might scream again in 15 minutes or an hour. She does these long screams 8-30 times a day, over three years. These aren't normal screams/squeals. I have had children of my own, several families live nearby, there's a nursery top of the road, and several schools. Its not a "you annoy me" scream, or "I want that" or "ow" scream. Its a pain/distress scream similar to having hair pulled or the wrist burn.

To add to above I do not hear the parents, so no shouting or raised voices. Nothing. The screams are not prolonged enough to call 999 as its only one then silence for a bit.

My question is...is it possible she has some sort of needs? I am more familiar with the tantrum style of meltdown and this is nothing like it. Or is it more likely to be abuse and should I try the police/nspcc? I did try ss 2 months ago but its still happening.

Thank you for any advice or pointers you can give.

Quite possibly but there is no way of knowing based on the screams alone
I'd say its sensible to report, just in case.

Could be ND. The screaming is a shit phase. I told my neighbours that mine are autistic for this reason.
