CBD Oil and ADHD

Although I haven't had a diagnosis, I have autistic (score very highly for autism on the online tests) and ADHD traits.

I have a bad hip which has got worse over the last year or so. I know the GP will just tell me to lose weight before referring me on. I've tried - I don't snack, eat relatively healthily, don't have a sweet tooth. My hip has started to really affect me day to day so I thought I'd give CBD oil a try. The affect on my hip was almost immediate. It felt better within a couple of days and now on day 9 it's much much better than it was. The other thing I've noticed since starting taking it is that my mind seems to have slowed down and I feel much calmer. I'm still not concentrating on tasks a great deal better, but my to do list is getting shorter and I feel in a much better place emotionally.

Has anyone else found CBD oil has helped with ADHD symptoms?

I have a diagnosis for ADHD and autism and found CBD oil to be of zero benefit. The taste was absolutely disgusting, almost vomit inducing (I have 'issues' around taste and texture as I have synesthesia), but because of the hype around CBD I persevered with it. Pointless. It just left a bad taste in my mouth. It wasn't cheap either!

My colleague however swears by it for her arthritis. She's NT though.

@Clarice99 the taste doesn't bother me that much, although it's not pleasant. I don't know how to describe the feeling it gives me mentally though. It's as if my brain is quieter.

Maybe it's damping down anxiety which is letting you think straight?

@ClumpingBambooIsALie it could well be. I started taking it on a Friday (almost two weeks ago) and I noticed the difference on the Thursday whilst I was on supply in a challenging year 5 class. I felt completely different to usual. Will be interesting to see if it brings my blood pressure down when I go for a check up next week!

Sounds great! I've not heard of anything directly talking about CBD and ADHD but if it's helping then it's helping Grin

If there are no negatives to CBD for you, and you're finding it helpful, that's the only reason you need to stick with it.

I hope it has a positive effect on your blood pressure 😀

I took CBD while I was waiting for my formal ADHD assessment and before I started medication.

I found that it helped significantly with my emotional regulation, but not so much with other symptoms (procrastination, focus or impulsivity). I stopped taking it when I started meds so it didn’t interfere. Meds are much better for all symptoms, but I would agree it is useful to give CBD a try in the meantime or if you are taking a break from meds. The quality makes a difference - I used pureis spray which was easy to use and tasted fine.

It had zero impact on my blood pressure, unfortunately. Hope it works better for you on that front

It's certainly helping my hip pain, so for that reason alone I'll keep taking it. Don't know about my blood pressure but everyone and everything not thinking about the receptionists at GP surgery is getting on my nerves this last couple of days so may not be the best time for a blood pressure check 😬
