Hi
My DD13 is being assessed for all sorts, it's clear to professionals she's complex issues, certainly ND. She's really keen on getting a service dog, (UK based). Does anyone have any experience? Breeds? Self training dogs with a specialist dog trainer (rather than waiting for a fully trained dog which may take years)
She's keen on a medium/larger dog, she likes weight on her like heavy weighted blankets etc.
Thank you

My DD11 is autistic and we got a lab x cocker spaniel as family dog two years ago. She’s not a specially trained dog but DD goes to normal dog training with DH and has a brill relationship with her. She’s a medium sized dog (looks like a small slim lab) who thinks she’s a lap dog 😁so she’s a fab natural weighted blanket & a real comfort to DD when she’s recovering from a period of disregulation. Getting our dog was the best thing we did for helping our DD as she’s calm, doesn’t bark and loves company. She will even push her nose under the blanket & snuggle when DD is hiding under her blanket after school as she’s overwhelmed from her day. So I guess it’s depends on what you need the dog to do?
