Can anyone recommend any books that explain ADHD?

I'm looking for a book that explains ADHD in adults, particularly inattentive presentation - does anyone have any recommendations? I know there is stuff on youtube, but I was thinking a book that I could lend to people may be easier.

I am getting tired of the blank looks I have been getting when trying to explain ADHD to my friends and family, or comments such as "Oh, I am a bit disorganised too, I find making lists help me", or "I zone out too sometimes, have you tried getting more sleep?" I recently tried to explain it to my Mum - she seemed to listen, and I thought she had understood, but then I spoke to her a few days later and she asked if I was feeling a bit better yet - as if ADHD is something that goes away!!

The Boy with the Butterfly Mind by Victoria Williamson. It's a young adult book but it's amazing.

Thanks, that looks a good one. I've put it on my Amazon wishlist!

My GP recommended Delivered from Distraction and I've found much of it very helpful, particularly in starting to work out what I can do to take charge of my ADHD, rather than letting it take over. There are lots of strategies to try and plenty of sources for additional information.

It is very US-orientated and there were various bits I took with a pinch of salt but on the whole, a worthwhile read.

Forgot to add... I gave it to DH to read and it was a bit of a light bulb moment for him. He now gets it so much more - bit of a necessity since he's the only NT one in the house... My parents are having my copy next.

I like this www.amazon.com/Queen-Distraction-Women-Conquer-Chaos/dp/1626250898
there are also some good accounts on Instagram which explain inattentive add in women well. I just had a browse and found some a liked.

I have 3 with inattentive ADHD and I find it very informative.

My favourite comment from someone re. Adhd was ' oh doesn't everyone have a touch of ADHD '. .... said in a joking way .

I have just been diagnosed with ADHD in my forties. I was recommended Understanding ADHD in Girls and Women, which I read and now highly recommend.

I’ve just been diagnosed but still questioning whether it’s ‘real’ or not. Not helped by my mum telling me I just need to be more disciplined. There’s a part of me that believes her! I’ve been recommended a book called Finally Focussed.
