Surviving summer

My neighbours are noisy entitled twats. In summer they become even more unbearable with their loud existence. I can no longer enjoy my garden or sit and read in relative peace because of their loud voices. Their visitors, of which there are many, and frequent, are noisy buggers too. I like to listen to my own music but can hear them over it even with normal phone earphones. I'd happily blast them with my choice of music but I'm considerate unlike them. Can anyone recommend anything to help drown out the noise? Maybe those ear protectors operators of pneumatic drills wear?!

I think earplugs - with or without your music - and a decent quality set of ear defenders - the type workmen use - would undoubtedly help. I have ear defenders and they do block virtually everything out. They can make your ears hot though and they're not designed to be worn for long periods.

Another option is to wear earbuds playing white or brown noise. The brown noise is a lower pitch and less hissy than white noise. Even I can tolerate brown noise and I'm very difficult to please noise wise.

Another option is the crafty one. Set up an infrasound device. We did this to the noisy hot tub neighbour. Dh made the device - which emits low sound that you can't actually hear, but can feel - he placed it at the back of the shed and directed it into the garden. Infrasound will induce feelings of anxiety, nausea, uneasiness and disorientation. You can't hear it directly, so can't pinpoint where it is coming from. Someone with knowledge would be able to know how to detect it, but if they're just noisy grunts they'd never realise or suspect. I can give you details of what dh did to make it if you want, it wasn't particularly sophisticated and it did work as they'd go inside about 10 minutes after dh activated it.

I like the idea of that!! My mum could do with one too for her bastard neighbours.

I'll pm you the details and instructions tomorrow 👍🏻😃

I haven't forgotten, I've not been well for the past couple of days.

Don't worry and get better soon. Ds has been poorly so we have been loafing since Sunday night. A pneumatic drill has been going on the main road for 7 hours a day for the past two days and I was approaching meltdown earlier. God knows what they are doing out there but I've never known noise like it.

I've asked him and he's going to write it down 👍🏻

Perhaps this played through concealed speakers? 👍🏻😃
