I do dog walking and petcare on a casual basis and earn a percentage of what the clients are charged. I'm a good worker, turn up on time, am reliable, do extra cleaning etc. the pets like me and I never let anyone down.

I told the business owner that I couldn't make this Wednesday's two dog walks because I have to take ds to an interview - he has aspergers and needs me there, can't reschedule etc. The owner is being evasive with me and not assuring me that the walks will be covered. I'm all chewed up about it and don't know how to deal with this. I don't need this as I only earn about £5 a visit after petrol. I can't afford the petrol even as it's going up so much. I'm overdue to be paid as well.

What should I do? I'm on the verge of packing it in because I might as well just sell my car and make more money than I do on the petcare. How do I deal with this? I'll have to message him again tomorrow to find out what's happening.

I would quit if it was me. I'd message about the price of petrol going up and say that its no longer financially viable for you.

I finally got a message to say the walks are covered 🙄

@BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation - I can totally relate! The 'waiting for an answer', especially in circumstances like yours, can be so anxiety provoking. I'm glad you finally got a message to say the walks are covered.

Have you had any further thoughts about the future of your dog walking/pet care role?

All the best for your son's interview Flowers

Dh doesn't want me to sell my car due to the convenience of us having a car each 🙄 I'm stuck for the time being it seems.

I don't know why the business owner believed it was my response to cover these walks if I couldn't do them. It's not my business.

If petrol goes up to £2.50 a litre I'll have to pack it in. I have to use E5 (more expensive) petrol because my car won't run on E10.
