How to learn to love a nickname?

I have a three-syllable first name (think: Isabella, Francesca).

Every since I was little, people have shortened it to something that I don't like. Think "Isabella" being shortened to "Izzy".

I really really dislike this. I just want to be called by my name.

Every time I remind people of my name, they just laugh and tell me not to be so uptight! Certain people love winding me up with my discomfort over this too.

Is there a way around it? Sad

Instead of learning to love the nickname, perhaps learn to deal with people who don't call you by your name.
Don't answer when people call you the nick name. If you are accused of being uptight, ask them why it is uptight to want to be called by your name. Think of a distasteful nickname for people who continue to call you by anything other than your name. Doesn't even have to be related to their name....

You shouldn't have to learn to live with it! Don't answer to the nickname and they will soon learn.
People can be so rude.
