Autistic dc didn't behave well today...

Well no shit sherlock, what do you fucking think would happen? Do secondary teachers not know how wind effects NT kids let alone autistic ones. It's common knowledge for Primary teachers We used to adapt our lessons accordingly.

I can't make it less windy, I can't make them less autistic, I am not responsible for support, or lack of it, in school.

What the fuck do you expect me to do about it?

Its blowing a fucking gale and I am autistic, and I have not got the ability to mask as well today. The response may have been a bit terse autistic.

Dropping this here as I can not say anywhere near what I really think to school.

My ds is awaiting assessment

Been on detention every day this week.
For being disruptive..
They are useless.

That's a joke, your poor child.
I was totally out of sorts today too so it must be worse for a kid.

BlackeyedSusan · 19/02/2022 01:59

At the end of last year they had more detentions than evenings left to do them.

It has improved this year and they behaved well today in four/five lessons and we have not had the phonecalls or detentions that we had in Y8

Feel your pain. School fucks me off. Just when you think they understand and have support in place, they question you / your child. Why do things come as a surprise to them? Why? Did they think maybe the Autism was going to go away overnight?

Maybe there should be more ND people working in these sorts of areas in schools. But then, I'd imagine schools aren't ND friendly places to work. And a high proportion of ND people don't work.

Maybe that's the problem. Most schools are probably (likely) largely staffed by Neurotypical people.
