That's it, the socks are gone! 🧦

After struggling to wear socks for donkeys years, I've finally had enough and they're all in the bin, even the cat ones 😱

They twist round all the time, go loose and baggy, have seams like the ridges of mountains, come off and are just driving me mad. I could have chewed my own feet off yesterday.

I have knee high ones for the frosty weather and knee high stockings for warmer weather. This'll have to do.

Bye, bye socks 🧦🧦🧦🧦🧦

Do you all have the same problem?

No. I did used to have a little pile of grey school socks behind the door daily though so someone else does.

at the kids' dad's house there are several of ds's socks in a little pile by the sofa. I need to retrieve them and take them home.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 02/02/2022 09:12

Yeah,ds1 used to remove just one sock and leave them all over. Why just one, I don't know.

I haven't worn socks in years and years (about 20 years)
I hate them with a passion and would rather have cold feet.
I live in crocs though and there's no need for socks with them.
in the depths of winter (snow or v heavy rain) if I have to venture outside I'll wear my barely used trainers, sockless of course.

Can't be dealing with the seams, tightness, scratchy, restraining, hot, uncomfortable torture device that is socks.

Did I mention that I don't like socks? 😁

EinsteinVonBrainstorm · 02/02/2022 11:10

Urgh no, I can’t cope without socks, even in summer!

msbevvy · 02/02/2022 11:19

I never liked wearing socks and the turning point for me was when I broke my ankle and was unable to put them on myself. I
I haven't worn them since except for when going bowling. I have a pair of trainer socks for that.

There are usually just a few weeks in the middle of winter when I may regret that decision but not enough to go out and buy socks.

My shoes can get a bit smellier without socks so I use odour absorbing insoles to counteract that.

EatSleepRantRepeat · 02/02/2022 15:29

Well done! I feel the same about bras but I have yet to find a comfy replacement. I hate things touching me in general, the years and years of only skinny jeans and leggings in shops has been torturous as I can't wear tracksuit bottoms for work. I would live in jumpers, hoodies and super baggy dresses if I could- even the straps on dungarees bother me

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 02/02/2022 15:40

Clothing is certainly annoying.

What a coincidence! I cleared out my sock drawer last week and threw away loads of uncomfortable socks with horrible toe seams, tight ankle bands, or that they just didn't sit right.

I felt so good getting rid of all of the socks that my feet hated.

What's also great is that I can actually see what's in the sock drawer now.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 02/02/2022 19:44

We shall defeat the socks! 😎

Oh I HATE socks. I hate them so much.

They hurt. Actually hurt.
Practically nobody believes me. How can they hurt? Don't be ridiculous etc.

But they do.

The problem is I'm diabetic and I'm not supposed to go barefoot. I've tried every type of sock and slipper going and I can't tolerate them. I hate shoes too but since I never leave the house that's not an issue (we need a laughing and crying at the same time emoticon)

I also can't wear long sleeves or jewellery and I become enraged by my hair as soon as it starts touching my neck or flapping on my face and I take the clippers to it and shave it down to the wood.

LilyRed · 03/02/2022 01:09

I am in sock prison Sad a couple of years ago my feet started to crack and bleed horribly so I have to use horrible creams and then wear socks. Until then I was mostly sockless except the deeps of winter. I am so envious of you unsocky lovely people!

Percie · 03/02/2022 09:25

I used to hate wearing socks when I was a kid, especially ankle socks. Now I have just the wollen Norwegian style ones (which I wear night and day on the winter) with boots and trainer socks for sport. Crocs and sandals with bare feet are the rest of the year.

LemonViolet · 03/02/2022 12:26

No the opposite, I hate wearing shoes without socks, it feels awful! I only have black bamboo socks for everyday use, very soft, can’t feel the seams, and all black so I don’t have to worry about losing any or pairing them, they all just live in one basket in the drawer as singles. I buy them like 20 at a time so I never run out.

Apart from that I have some very soft cashmere socks for snuggly evening/bedtime, not really for walking around in much. Hate cold feet.

The only sock-less shoes I’ve found ok were “toesox” flip flop sandles that kept all the toes separated. Can’t seem to buy the same ones again though although I keep looking every now and then.

BlackeyedSusan · 03/02/2022 17:24

socks don't usually hurt me, but sometimes clothing does hurt and I have to go bare legged for a bit. getting people to understand is difficult... and they say we have rigid thinking.

steppemum · 03/02/2022 17:30

This thread is so funny. I love socks.
Mine are soft, comfy, no tight ankel bands, and soft seams. They don't twist round, they just sit on my feet being warm.

Mind you, I occasionally buy socks that twist, or go baggy or have annoying seams and I hate those ones.

But my real issue is that shpes and boots are SO uncomfortable without socks, they rub and they stick to sweaty feet and they smell!

And me!

I have recently started buying bamboo socks and, holy heck, it's like having your feet wrapped in a cloud.

This entire thread is THE absolute encapsulation of 'if you've met one ND person, you've met one ND person'. Grin

Susu49 · 03/02/2022 17:42

I thought this was just me! Shock

But my feet are always cold without them so I haven't found a good alternative yet (I don't like slippers!)

Couldn't agree more!
