I still haven't posted off my AQ10

It took me years to finally e-consult with my GP about my very big hunch that I am autistic. GP agreed with all my points and sent me AQ10 to do, which she would then forward on and refer to assessment team.

But I haven't sent it back.

I don't know why and I feel so bad about it sitting in my bookcase. It's like I have a mental block about sending it back to the GP.

I live in a neurodiverse household. I have neurodiverse kids. I don't know why this has paralysed me.

Anyway I am looking for some gentle encouragement, if anyone fancies sending some my way.

What's going through your mind when you're not preparing to post it? Have you filled it in.

Get yourself an envelope, pen and a cup of coffee and do it.

😃😃😃

I got one step further than you, and was sent paperwork by a clinic pre-assessment. I didn't send it back.

That was ten years ago.

Meanwhile, nothing has changed and I still have no answers re:diagnosis. I wouldn't recommend it.

Pick something to reward yourself with, and use it as motivation to return the form.

While it's sitting there you are not autistic. If you send it off it may turn out you are autistic. Even though you are what you are wherever the bloody form is.

It's a big deal going through the diagnosis pathway. Lots of emotions swirling around.

Or just achieving something not in your usual routine is too difficult.

I tend to break these things down into micro steps. Eg find the pen or envelope.

You should definitely do it OP, at least you will know either way then Flowers

I completely disagree. If I'm autistic, and I'm 99% certain I am, I have been since birth. That's how autism works, right?

hence this sentence....

BlackeyedSusan · 30/01/2022 20:54

and I was just writing possibilities of why you might not have sent it..

if one has not been assessed one does not know for sure one isautistic and one might prefer to not know subconciously

theqentity · 28/02/2022 16:48

I sent it in on Friday. Got called today to say I've been referred for further assessment.

Well done for getting it done.

I completely relate to that experience of being stuck
