Hi I've just found this group. After years of feeling I m autistic I've finally plucked up courage to speak to doctor who has referred me to adult assessment team. Does anyone know a rough expectation of wait list. I know it will vary but forgot to ask dr so just wanting a rough idea. Thanks.

I think it can be a couple of years on the NHS, but it depends on the area you're in.

Ahh long wait then was hoping it would be less for adults.

I think there's been a big increase in adults seeking autism and adhd assessment.

I’m sort of in the same boat - got an adhd diagnosis a couple of years ago and have waited about a year and a half for an asd assessment. Opted to have online assessment through private provider on the nhs and my initial appointment is next Friday. I had to fill in a lengthy pre appointment form and get someone else who knows me to also. Will report back but it’s been worth it as means I can ask for support at work like assistance with admin and protected workload etc

I was told a couple of months for an initial ‘access’ appointment to discuss why I wanted an assessment . Then at least a year for the actual assessment.

It took a year to get to the screening appointment then another two to have the formal assessment.

I don't think covid helped but the first two years were pre-covid, so who knows
