Earplugs to reduce noise

Sockpile · 22/01/2022 20:40

Has anyone tried Flare Calm earplugs to reduce noises? Do they work?
I’m feeling so sensitive to noise at the moment and would love to be able to dampen down background noise. Does anyone have any other suggestions.
Thanks

Ds2 has some dBuds which we bought him in preparation for going to college on the train. He says they definitely help.

I was debating between flare and loop and I went for the loop ones and they really helped with my noise sensitivity, really takes the edge off

I bought loop after seeing them on tiktok and have now bought a 2nd pair. They take the edge off without it being noticeable. Although it was noticeable when I put them on at a loud music event and it just sounded like the radio and I was able to enjoy without the jarring noise which was noticeable to my friends who were with me.

I bought some loop quiet earplugs and am waiting for them to arrive in the post in the next few days I hope. Glad to see good reviews here.

Vagessence · 24/01/2022 23:49

For those who have tried loop earplugs, which one did you buy?

BlankTimes · 25/01/2022 04:04

My adult DD who has ASD and is very sound-sensitive is very pleased with her Flare Calmers. She says they somehow take the irritating and loud noises and subdue them, put them into the background.
They have lots of reviews from autistic people on their website, their 25% off sale is currently on for another few days if it makes a difference.

I have the Flare ones. I like them in the car on noisy motorways.

I got the Loop Quiet model as I am noise sensitive, both to volume and I hear every little sound everywhere in the house, on the street and so on.

Also, I live with a loud guitar player who talks a stream of consciousness almost constantly and plays everything loudly as he is now going deaf, and his mother who is now very deaf, shouts (screeches) any conversation most of the time, eats with her mouth open so it sounds like my last cat did with a bowl of wet food (a whole other subject) and has the telly and radio on VERY LOUDLY, often at the same time -

I got the experience ones. I thought £20 was reasonable and tried them first. I love them.

Thanks for all the feedback.
I hadn’t heard of the loop ones before and they do look good.
I have ordered the flare and am hoping they help.

@Vagessence

My Loops arrived today (they are shipped from Germany if you order direct) and I can report they work really well - I actually got a rest this afternoon without being woken every five minutes - blissfully quiet

DD has tried the Flare Calmers and found they did change the levels of some noises but found she could hear the rustling of her clothes more and that made things worse for her. Flare have recommended a different version which we are waiting to receive.

In terms of blocking sound, several family members use pairs of the Flare Sleeep ear plugs and they work very well.

Abracadabra12345 · 27/01/2022 16:01

@LilyRed that sounds a nightmare. Do you find the Loops Quiet work for such an assault of sound?

I’m dreading even slightly warmer weather as it’s a cue for all my wfh neighbours to throw open their bifold doors so I hear continual phone / Zoom calls and can’t relax outside.

LilyRed · 27/01/2022 21:37

@Abracadabra12345 DP is in the garage playing blues/rock at this moment and although I can hear it marginally it does not bother me now.

I also didn't get woken up by the ice cream van when it drove by today Grin

Abracadabra12345 · 28/01/2022 07:07

Thank you, I’ll look into them
